Biographies and Autobiographies are nonfiction books that tell the story of a real person's life - autobiographies are written by the subject about their own life, and biographies are written by someone else.

You can learn a great deal by reading about how others have overcome adversity, risen to power, and lived lives great and sometimes not so great.  The subjects of these book might be famous, or perhaps you have never heard of them.  They may have been scientists, musicians, athletes, politicians, or just about anything else you can imagine.  

Biographies and autobiographies are shelved in the nonfiction section of the library, with a call number that starts with 92, and they are shelved in alphabetical order by the subject's last name.
