Guiteras Elementary School Library: 2017 RI Children's Book Award

Thank you to Mrs. Cappadona from Hugh Cole Library and Carolyn Steward from Gladstone Street School Library for creating this page!

Dear Students,

Take a "Book Look" by clicking on the tabs below to see more information about the books that are nominated for this year's RI Children's Book Award.

If you would like to borrow any of the books, please click here to let me know.

Gentle reminder: All students in Grades 3-5 are strongly encouraged to read the nominated books and complete a challenge activity. The challenge activities are located under the wooden bookshelf on top of the Librarian Desk.  Read the books and return your challenge activities before March 1 in order to be recognized at the April Community Celebration and to be entered into the drawing for a $15 gift card from Barrington Books.  (There will be a $15 gift card for a student from Grade 3, Grade 4 and Grade 5.)

Happy Reading,

Ms. Galipeau

Information for Teachers

The RI Children's Book Award Committee has worked hard this year to develop curriculum connections and other presentation tools to work with this year's titles. If you are looking to infuse your teaching with a new read-aloud please consider a RI Children's Book Award nominee and check the curriculum related materials available here.

Special thanks to all those on the committee for their work on this.
