Personalized Learning

Digital Learning Vision, Created by the Bristol Warren Regional School District Future Ready Team

What is Digital Learning?

Digital learning the strengthening, broadening and/or deepening of students' learning through the effective use of technology. Digital learning can be enabled through a range of instructional practices encompassing a wide spectrum of modern tools and strategies. It emphasizes high-quality instruction and provides access to challenging content, feedback through formative assessment and opportunities for learning anytime and anywhere. When carefully designed and thoughtfully applied, technology accelerates, amplifies and expands the impact of effective teaching practices.

Why Digital Learning?

1. Personalization

Digital learning helps individualize and personalize instruction based upon student’s abilities and interests, ensuring all students reach their full potential to succeed in college and a career.

2. Anytime / Anywhere Learning

Digital learning ensures that all students have access to learning resources at any time, from anyplace with internet access.

3. 21st Century Skills

Digital learning tools help promote collaboration, ignite inquiry, and enable authentic publishing and sharing of newly created knowledge. Digital learning helps students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to learn effectively and live productively as responsible citizens in an increasingly digital world.

4. Assessments for Learning

Digital assessment can be leveraged to measure what matters most, communicating evidence of learning progress and providing insights to teachers, administrators, families, and most importantly, the learners themselves. Digital learning tools also provide students with multiple ways to show what they know based upon their learning preferences.

5. Collaborative, Real-World Learning

Digital learning creates environments conducive to collaboration, critical thinking, and creative problem solving.  Digital learning devices and resources can promote authentic, deeper learning grounded in real-world challenges to demonstrate competency with complex concepts and content. Students can also amplify their voice by connecting, sharing and learning with an expanded network and authentic audience beyond the classroom.

Our Vision for Digital Learning

We will develop a dynamic digital learning environment that fosters personalized instruction based upon students’ abilities, needs and interests, ensuring all students reach their full potential to succeed in college and a career. Through anytime, anywhere access to digital learning resources and tools, we will promote deeper, authentic learning experiences focused on collaboration, inquiry, problem solving and publishing of newly created knowledge. Digital assessments will be leveraged to measure what matters most, communicating evidence of learning progress and providing insights to teachers, administrators, families, and most importantly, the learners themselves. These experiences will help students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to learn effectively and live productively as responsible citizens in an increasingly digital world.
