November is Picture Book Month.

Learning Targets for "A Picture Book Is..." Activity

I can access and select a picture book from the Library collection.

I can read and share a picture book with a partner or a small group.

I can contribute to the "A Picture Book Is..." Guiteras Community learning project by writing, drawing and collaborating with a partner or small group.

Kindergarten Mock Caldecott Project

Kindergarteners will be participating in a Mock Caldecott Project.

With help, I can ask and answer questions about important details in a book in order to participate in a group discussion about picture books.

1.1.6 Read, view, and listen for information presented in any format (e.g., textual, visual, media, digital) in order to make inferences and gather meaning.

I can identify the front cover, back cover, and title page of a book. I can also name the author and illustrator of a text and explain the role of each in presenting the ideas or information in a book as part of evaluating books for our Mock Caldecott project.
