* Please Note: The library is closed the 3rd Wednesday of the month before school for faculty meetings and after school on Fridays. Special circumstances occasionally arise that require the library to close before or after school. Every effort is made to give students advance notice when possible.
The Barrington Middle School (BMS) library media center is open to all Barrington students and staff.
Barrington Middle School (BMS) students, school district staff members, and parents can check out all items that are part of our regular circulation.
There are no overdue fines.
Lost or significantly damaged materials must be paid for at the cost of replacement.
Interlibrary loan requests can be placed by BMS patrons independently when they are logged in or through the library staff.
All items in circulation are available for interlibrary loan.
Library staff and patrons can submit interlibrary loan requests.
Interlibrary loan requests will be filled at the discretion of the school librarian.
Local patron hold requests take precedence over interlibrary loan requests for the same item.
Items that are specifically reserved for in-library or classroom use are temporarily excluded from interlibrary loan as needed.
An individual patron can request a maximum of six items at one time.
ILL requests will be filled (or declined) as quickly as possible.
There are no interlibrary loan fees or overdue fines.
Lost or significantly damaged items must be paid for at the cost of replacement. In certain circumstances, a replacement copy may be accepted.
Items borrowed through interlibrary loan have a 35 day loan period and can be renewed one time.
We will show respect in the way that we speak to others, conduct ourselves, and take care of materials in the library media center.
We will sign in when we come to the library for open library and sign out when we leave. Student safety is our number one concern and we need to account for you when you are here in case of emergency.
3. Stay on the Main Floor
We will stay on the main floor of the library media center. The stadium seating and upper floor are available only when an adult is supervising students there.
Your opinion counts! We want to know what you think of the books you read. Use your creativity and imagination by creating book trailers, talks, blogs, etc. that you can share with others. Take a picture of the book cover for the @bmsmedia.ri Instagram account.
Looking for a book in the BMS collection that is not there? Let Mrs. Roy know by filling out this form so that she can decide if the book can be added to our collection.
Help our books last a long time. Treat them with the care and respect they deserve.
