Chester W. Barrows School Library: Tacky the Penguin

Tacky the Penguin

Kindergarten students really enjoyed Tacky the Penguin books during this long, long, COLD, ICY, SNOWY winter.  Seeing Tacky have fun with his friends Goodly, Lovely, Angel, Neatly and Perfect was a great example of how to have fun during the winter, doing penguin activities.

Written by Helen Lester and illustrated by Lynn Munsinger, Tacky has showed us that it's okay to be different as long as we are a good friend.

These are the Tacky Books that are in the Collection here at Barrows School

All book descriptions are courtesy of Follett.

An Artist's Tribute to Tacky

Emelie created this original rendition of Tacky and his friends.  Mrs. Rose was so proud!!!!  Emelie remembered to include all of Tacky's friends as well!

Do You Remember the Tacky Song?

The Tacky the Penguin Song goes like this:

How Many Toes Does a Fish Have?

And How Many Wings on a Cow?

I Wonder.

I Wonder.

(Note:  the above needs to be sung LOUDLY, OFF KEY, and HORRIBLY in order to be effective against Penguin Hunters.)

Lyrics from Tacky the Penguin by Helen Lester and Lynn Munsinger

Do You Remember the Tacky Cheer?

The Tacky the Penguin Cheer goes like this:

One, Two, Three, YAY!

Rooty, Tooty, Toot, HOORAY!

High Flippers

High Flippers

We're OKAY!

(Note:  please speak to Mrs. Rose, Librarian, if you have forgotten the Hand Gestures.)
