EZRA JACK KEATS

Ezra Jack Keats was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1916.  He died in 1983.    Ezra Jac Keats wrote and illustrated 22 books.  Many of his books takes place in a city.  He also illustrated over 60 other books. 

CYNTHIA RYLANT

Cynthia Rylant was born in West Virginia in June, 1954.  

She grew up in the Appalachian Mountains. She loved school, riding her bike, and twirling her baton. 

Cynthia puts things she loves in her books.  Many of her stories show places in the mountains and things she liked to do when she was a girl. She loves cats and dogs.  Many of her pets or other animals she met have become characters in her stories.

Cynthia lived in Ohio and now lives in Oregon.
