Shelf Order

Fiction books are shelved in Alphabetical Order by the Author's last name.  

Nonfiction books are organized by the Dewey Decimal System.  

The Dewey Decimal System assigns numbers to subject categories.  

Then books are stored in number order by subject.  

Biographies are shelved in Alphabetical Order by the Famous Person's Last Name.
