Coretta Scott King Book Awards
The Coretta Scott King Book Awards are given annually to outstanding African American authors and illustrators of books for children and young adults that demonstrate an appreciation of African American culture and universal human values.
Pura Belpré Award
The award is named after Pura Belpré, the first Latina librarian at the New York Public Library. The Pura Belpré Award, established in 1996, is presented annually to a Latino/Latina writer and illustrator whose work best portrays, affirms, and celebrates the Latino cultural experience in an outstanding work of literature for children and youth.
The Michael L. Printz Award is an award for a book that exemplifies literary excellence in young adult literature.

Newbery Medal and Honor Winners
Offers both current and prior winners of this award for the "most distinguished contribution to American literature for children."
RI Children's Book Award List (Grade 5)
Children in grades 3 to 5 have the opportunity to vote on their favorite book from a ballot of 20 selections nominated for the Rhode Island Children’s Book Award by a panel of librarians, reading specialists and teachers. Children vote as part of their class or with their local public library.
RI Middle School Book Award (Grade 6)
This list is a combination of the RICBA list and the RIMSBA list, selected just for 6th graders at Chariho Middle School.
4th - 5th Grade Students Reading at 7th Grade Level

RI Middle School Book Award (Grade 7 & 8)
The Rhode Island Middle School Book Award was created to target students in grades 6, 7, and 8. The committee is made up of librarians, school librarians, teachers and community members who work with children in this age range.
