Metcalf Elementary School Library: Author Project

This year, students in third grade were introduced to Destiny Quest, the library catalog, in order to search for books, place holds and manage their patron account. 

Students use Destiny Quest to satisfy personal reading interests and to read e-books on electronic devices.

This project required students to practice the following skills: 

1. Identify a favorite author and their body of work.
2. Utilize search and filtering features of a database (Destiny Quest) in order to identify specific information. 
3. Create a Google Slides presentation. 
4. Manage files in Google Drive.
5. Practice image search functions.
6. Identify and implement basic principles of good presentation design.
7. Provide kind and helpful feedback to peers.
8. Utilize peer and teacher feedback to make improvements to work.
9. Identify basic bibliographic information to create a Works Cited list.
