Cranston High School West Library: Ray - Julius Caesar

Research Assignment

After many victories in battle, Julius Caesar returned to Rome in February 44 BC, and he declared himself dictator for life. This declaration, along with some of Caesar’s other gestures of power, led many in the Roman Senate to turn against him. Sixty members of the Senate concluded that the only resolution was to assassinate Caesar. Many of the Senators took an actual physical part in this act.

Throughout history, religious and political leaders have been assassinated by those groups and individuals who have argued their reasons. For this paper, you will look at the assassination of one other political figure and compare/contrast it with the death of Julius Caesar.

Your paper will answer the questions in the graphic organizer below. Use this organizer to take notes as you read articles. You may need additional copies, which will be made readily available to you. As you read the articles related to your topic, take notes that answer each question. Be sure to keep track of where you are finding your information as you go.

Use the organizer attached below to record information from the articles you will read. As you read, you should also annotate/highlight the parts of the text that help you to answer these questions.
