Burrillville High School Library: Mission and Service Policies

Mission Statement
The mission of the Burrillville High School Library Media Center is to ensure that all students and faculty are effective and ethical users of information and technology and encourage students to develop lifelong reading habits in order to increase their success beyond high school.

Library Policies and Services
The library serves the students, faculty, and staff of Burrillville High School. The library provides access to a variety of print and non-print resources including books, magazines, DVDs, VHS tapes, online databases, and eBooks. All print materials (excluding reference books) can be checked out from the library, and all digital resources, including the library catalog, are available online. The library also lends equipment including TVs with DVD and VHS players and digital cameras. The library website at http://guides.rilinkschools.org/broncos, which is regularly updated and maintained, streamlines access to tools and resources for students and teachers.

The library participates in interlibrary loan through RILINK (Rhode Island Library Information Network for Kids) and LORI (Library of Rhode Island). With the exception of reference materials, all books, magazines, DVDs, and VHS tapes are available to be borrowed by patrons of all LORI member libraries. The library adheres to the RILINK Interlibrary Loan Policy.

The library provides class instruction regularly and individual instruction as needed on the use of the online databases, library catalog, and technology to support teaching and learning, particularly to help students to meet the requirements of the common course assessments. The library also promotes lifelong reading and the pursuit of individual interests through activities such as book explorations, read-ins, reading challenges, and technology workshops.
