Shea High School Service and Interlibrary Loan Policies

Library Service Policy

Borrowing Privileges

Borrowing privileges are extended to all members of the Shea High School learning community.  The loan period is 14 days, 2 weeks, however our media center is flexible and will extend the circulation period when needed.  The due date is written on the DUE DATE slip located on back cover.

Renewals

If you need more time with the borrowed resources, you may renew the items.  To renew your materials, you may visit the library, email me, or leave me a note.  Please include first and last name and titles of materials.

Late or Lost/Damaged Materials

Late - There are no overdue fines.  No items may be borrowed until overdue items are returned.

Lost/Damaged Materials - Lost or damaged materials must be paid for at the cost of replacement.  No materials may be borrowed until items have been paid for.  If you think you may have lost materials, please see Ms. Farley in the library.

Notices - Individual "Reminder Notices" are distributed the first Monday of every month during advisory.   If you have any questions, please see Ms. Farley in the library.

Interlibrary Loan Policy

What is interlibrary loan?  Interlibrary loan is a service whereby a patron of one library can borrow books, DVDs, etc. that are owned by other libraries belonging to the consortium.  If we don't have what you need, see Ms. Farley in the library for assistance.

As a member of  the RILINK Consortium, the Shea High School Library adheres to the following interlibrary loan policy:

  • All items in circulation are available for interlibrary loan.
  • Library patrons (students and staff) can submit interlibrary loan requests.
  • Interlibrary loan requests will be filled at the discretion of the school librarian.
  • Items that are specifically reserved for in-library or classroom use may be temporarily excluded from interlibrary loan as needed.
  • Local patron hold requests take precedence over interlibrary loan requests for the same item.
  • Materials sent to fulfill interlibrary loan requests have a 35 day loan period and can be renewed once.
  • Patrons can request a maximum of 3 items at one time.
  • Ill requests will be filled or declined as quickly as possible.
  • There are no interlibrary loan fees or overdue fines.
  • Lost or significantly damaged items must be paid for at the cost of replacement.
