Using the Library

Hours

The library is open daily from 8:00am - 3:30pm

Borrowing Library Materials

  • All items taken from the library must be checked out.
  • Items are checked out for three (3) weeks.
  • There are no fines for overdue materials. Please return your books on time. Sharing resources is a sign of good citizenship.
  • If you have an overdue item you may not be able to check out additional library materials.
  • Please allow time to check out. If you wait until the last minute you may be late for class.

Renewing Library Materials

  • You may renew your items online before the due date by logging in to the catalog (Destiny Discover), or stop in the library and ask us to renew materials if you need additional time.
  • Items on hold for another person may not be renewed.

Interlibrary Loan

  • Students may request items from other RI libraries through interlibrary loan.
  • Students are notified by email when requested materials are ready for checkout.
  • Borrowing Procedures apply to all ILL materials.
  • Barrington High School is an active member of RILINK and the LORI Network and adheres to the interlibrary loan policy outlined below.

Library Notices

  • Students can check "My Info" in your library account to check for due dates, overdues, lost book fees, and hold status.
  • "Ready Hold" notices are emailed on the day the item is available for checkout.
  • "Due Soon" emails are sent to student email accounts 3 days before the due date.
  • "Overdue" emails are sent to student email accounts on Mondays.
  • "Lost Materials" invoices are sent home for items more than 30 school days overdue.

Lost or Damaged Items

  • Students are responsible for the items they check out. Lost or significantly damaged items must be paid for or replaced.
  • Items more than 30 school days overdue are assumed lost and families will be billed for the replacement value of the items.

Interlibrary Loan Policy

Barrington High School Library is a member of the LORI Network and actively participates in interlibrary loan and resource sharing.

Barrington High School Library meets the requirements of the LORI Standards and adheres to the following interlibrary loan policy:

  • All items in circulation are available through interlibrary loan to all LORI member libraries.
  • Interlibrary loan requests will be filled (or declined) as quickly as possible.
  • Interlibrary loan requests will be filled at the discretion of the school librarian.
  • Interlibrary loan requests may be placed by students or library staff.
  • Interlibrary loan materials will be circulated for 35 days and can be renewed one time.
  • An individual patron can request a maximum of ten items at one time.
  • There are no interlibrary loan fees or overdue fines.
  • Lost or significantly damaged items must be paid for at replacement cost. In certain circumstances, a replacement copy may be accepted.
  • Barrington High School patron requests take precedence over interlibrary loan requests for the same item.
