All students are welcome to come into the library before homeroom, during lunch hour and after school. Students must behave while being in the library and should not distract any other students who may be in the library.
Chromebook Policies:
Students can use the Chromebooks in the library. However, they are not allowed to take the Chromebook out of the library without the librarian's permission. In order to take the Chromebook out of the library, a student/faculty must have their school ID on them to check out the Chromebook. The Chromebook must be returned by the end of the period.
Please follow these steps to log into the school library Catalog and place a book on hold from your school library:
Now, we can borrow books from other school libraries.
Please read the Inter-library Loan Policy before you request any books or material from another library.
Use the "library login information" (steps 1-3 above) to login into your account. Once you are logged into your account, go to the catalog tab.
Click on the "Catalog Tab" to your top left side, right next to "My Info".
In order to get results from all the RICAT members, change the location to RICAT (all members).
Now you can search for any material by their Keyword, Title, Author, Subject or Series.
When you find the material of your choice, click on the title to view the material and its detail.
Now click on the "Hold it" on the right-hand side of the window to place the material on hold.
Once your material has been placed on hold, you can go back to Catalog by simply clicking the "Catalog" tab on the top left side of your library page.
Don't forget to "Logout" when you are done with your research.
Borrowing:
Patrons can borrow books for up to three weeks. A maximum of 3 items can be borrowed at a time.
Late Fees:
Patrons are responsible for the library late fee charges. Overdue material will be charged 10 cents per school day.
Lost Material:
The student is responsible for returning the material on time. If an item is lost or damaged, students are responsible for replacing the materials at their own cost.
Renewal:
A student must come into the library to renew the material at least 2 days prior to the due date.
Notice:
Patrons cannot borrow any material from another library if they owe any fines or have overdue books in their account. Students are responsible for checking their St. Patrick e-mail account or library account for their due dates, overdue fines and hold status.
The St. Patrick Academy library is enthusiastic to provide the interlibrary loan (ILL) service to our high school students, faculty, and staff. The library circulation materials are available for interlibrary loan. Reserved items are excluded from the interlibrary loan services. The library staff and patrons can submit an interlibrary loan request by using their personal St. Patrick Academy library account. Our students are our first priority over interlibrary loan request for the same item. Students' ILL request will be filled or declined within 24 hours. A patron will be charged .10 per day on each item for ILL late or overdue fees. Patrons are responsible for reimbursement if the item is lost or damaged. Patrons can borrow the interlibrary loan items for 35 days and can be renewed only one time.
Once students are logged into their account, they can search the material on the catalog page. Each library has different availability policy of its materials. We can only borrow the material for a certain time depending on their library policy and procedures. However, if the material is not available anywhere in Rhode Island, we can also request it from out of state. In order to request the material from another state, patrons are responsible for paying $2.00 fee per item. All the patrons have to make the payment before getting approval from the librarian. Your high school librarian has rights to deny the ILL request if a person has overdue material in their account or owe more than $5.00 outstanding balance in fine on their accounts. If anyone needs any help or have any question to request the material from ILL, please see your librarian.
