Kickemuit Middle School Library: Dr. K. Child's 2021 Black History Month Learning Activities

Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire. – W. B. Yeats

The Work of Dr. K. Childs and Directions for Library Class Challenge Activity

Dr. K. Childs is an Educator from Texas and is an Assistant Professor at Texas A&M University-Commerce.  As your KMS Teacher-Librarian, I am also a lifelong student and I learn from other educators across the world.  Dr. K. Childs created a 2021 Black History Month project and each day posted a learning activity.  Each day's learning activity was so good and so interesting that I could never decide which one to share with you and encourage you to complete as a Library Class Challenge Activity.  I've decided to share ALL of Dr. K. Childs's learning activities in order for you to see them all and you can select one (or more!) to complete a Library Class Challenge Activity.  I've added links under Dr. K. Childs's learning activities in order to encourage you to read in relation to the person and/or topic highlighted. Gentle Reminder: You know how to search and check out Destiny Discover and Sora for eBooks an audiobooks.

You can complete your Challenge Activity is any format you decide.  Possible ideas:

*write/draw on paper and take a picture of it

*Google Doc, Slide, Drawing, or other Google app

*Adobe Spark image or short video (1 minute of less)

*Flipgrid image or short video ((1 minute of less)

*animation

*comic strip and take a picture of it

*your own idea

Submit your work by attaching it to the Library Class Challenge Activity assignment in Classwork in your Library Google Classroom.

ALL of the learning activities below are created by Dr. K. Childs and were generously shared through social media for other educators to use with their students.  Thank you to Dr. K. Childs!
