The library is a place to read, research, study, and create. Students visit the library during assigned classes and may work independently or complete small group projects quietly under library supervision. Library expectations apply before, during and after school.
Jamestown School Libraries support the mission and curriculum of the Jamestown School District and builds the foundation needed to transform students into lifelong learners, independent readers and respectful, responsible, ethical global citizens with the ability to make positive contributions to the world around them. This mission is accomplished by:
Jamestown School Libraries are open to all Jamestown students, staff and faculty. Jamestown students and school district staff can check out all items that are part of our regular circulation.
Borrowing Library Items
The loan period is 7 school days (1 week). Limit: 3 items per student. There are no overdue fines.
You may come to the library to renew a library book if you need additional time, or renew online by logging in to your personal library account. Please bring your items to the library when renewing.
You may not borrow if...
You have an overdue book.
Lost Books and Magazines
Students must pay the cost of replacing lost or damaged materials before borrowing additional items.
Overdue notices are emailed home to families or directly to the student, when age-appropriate. Students can also check their personal library account for due dates, overdue or hold status or library fines.
As a member of the RILINK consortium, the Jamestown School Libraries follow the consortium-level Inter-library loan policy that is posted on the RILINK Website. Inter-library loan requests can be placed by Jamestown school patrons independently when they are logged in or by library staff.
Mrs. Steever is ALWAYS looking for volunteers to return books to the shelves, assist students with book check-out, and complete special library projects. Do you pay attention to details? How about helping to write and edit copy on the library website? Contact Mrs. Steever at email@example.com to set up a time to chat about your availability and your interests.
It is often possible to get class sets of books through Inter-library loan. If you would like to get a class set of books, please check with Mrs. Steever to see if there are enough copies of the title available throughout the RICAT Inter-library loan system. If enough copies are available, please give me a copy of your class list, and I will request a book for every student. Please plan in advance, as it usually takes three-four weeks for all of the books to arrive.
