Supreme Court Case Slides Project

Due Date---> Sunday, January 27th by 11:59 PM, Presentations start following Monday

Directions: You will select one of the Supreme Court cases listed below and create a Google Slides presentation that provides the following information in an organized manner.

Slideshow Requirements:

  • Information is accurate and is easy to read/follow (font can be colorful, must be able to read info)

  • Colorful but don’t go overboard (customize layout, font, transitions)

  • At least one image per slide (not including Works Cited)

Slide 1- Title: Your name(s), case name, year of case

Slide 2- Background: What happened?- Setting, people, details about the situation (assume we know nothing about it)

Slide 3- Plaintiff's Argument(s) : Why/how were their right(s) violated? Why are they filing a lawsuit? Reasons they will win case

Slide 4- Defendant’s Argument(s): What is their side of the argument? Why should they not be sued? Reasons they will win case

Slide 5- Question/Issue: Explain what is being brought to the Supreme Court for it to decide on

Slide 6- Verdict: What was the Supreme Court’s ruling on this case (include justice numbers)? Which side did they take and why? 

Slide 7- Importance: Significance of the outcome of the ruling, legacy (long lasting impact) of the ruling on the future

Slide 8- Works Cited: Include at least 2 citations from different sources.

Presentation Requirements:

  • Demonstrate your knowledge of the case (be able to discuss it intelligently with the class)

  • Do not simply read from your notes or the slides- instead tell the class about the case, ruling, and overall importance

    • The slides are a guide for the audience, not a script for the presenter

  • Practice your slides, speak loud and clearly, eye contact with the audience, must be between 3-5 minutes

Grading - This project counts for a quiz grade
