Summer Work Required in AP English Literature and Composition
Overview: In order to prepare thoroughly for your May 2023 exam in Advanced Placement English Literature and Composition, you must accomplish significant reading over this summer. We simply do not have time to do all of this reading during the school year while we are also working on writing. Accordingly, summer reading will include reading AND an additional assignment regarding the following works:

Assessment of Summer Reading: Your grade for these summer readings will be based on notoriously difficult multiple choice plot tests (50%) and your outlines or annotations (50%). There will also be several Socratics on each work.

Required Reading #1. A Streetcar Named Desire by Tennessee Williams.

Required Reading #2. Crime and Punishment by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Required Reading #4. Great Expectations by Charles Dickens OR any title from the following list of books that have been suggested by The College Board on the AP Literature and Composition Exam (see link below).
You needn’t complete any assignment for this selection. Please just read and enjoy.
