VAD 1-1 Design – Students will use elements and principles to design and create a successful composition. Emphasis use line, shape, form, value, color, balance, space, and unity.
VAD 1-2 Media & Tools – Students will use new painting tools, terms and techniques successfully. Intro to gridding and typography.
VAD 2-1 History & Culture – Intro to Rene Magritte for CM-analyzing and Alice Neel for color/painting techniques. Selection of books with successful design covers for inspiration.
VAD 3-1 Problem Solving – Students will use problem-solving skills to create a successful painting of themselves from a photograph, to be placed on a book cover that will interact with their own face in a final photo.
VAD 3-2 Interpret – Students will successfully interpret features of the face into a painting. All four aspects need to show unity; photo, painting composition, title and font.
VAD 4-1 Reflection- Every student will reflect during their studio time, as well as a written reflection after completion.
