Grade Level Focus: SORTING

T1 Lessons and Activities

Students will be able to:

  • Sort items into categories
  • Identify parts of a book cover
  • Define "author" and "illustrator"
  • Explain the difference between fiction and nonfiction

T2 Lessons and Activities

In addition to T1 standards, students will be able to: 

  • Explain how algorithms - including E call numbers - work
  • Locate E books on the shelf
  • Define “Caldecott” award
  • Support an opinion with an explanation

T3 Lessons and Activities

In addition to T1/2 standards, students will be able to: 

  • Define "Geisel" award
  • Create pages for class books based on literature

  • Cooperation: Works with other students on group assignments
  • Respect: Waits to be called on, listens to teacher and other students when they're speaking, keeps in own personal space
