Summer Reading Requirements

  • Summer reading projects should be brought in on the first day of school.

  • Students are required to read two books over the summer at their independent reading level.

Project Ideas

Summer Reading Project Ideas Include...

  • Google Book Report Form 
  • Google Doc or Slides
  • Essay
  • Book Talk (live or recorded)
  • Letter to the editor of a newspaper explaining your thoughts about the book
  • Poster advertising the book
  • OR come up with something that includes all of the criteria on the checklist and can be accessed by your teacher for grading

Directions for using Sora:

Go to https://soraapp.com/library/RISOCKS or download the Sora app from your device's marketplace:

     

*NOTE: The first three steps below are for the mobile app only. If you are on a computer, skip to step 4.*

  1. Open Sora and tap Find my school.
  2. Tap My school isn't listed -> at the bottom of the screen.
  3. Enter your zip code or start typing Chariho Regional School District. You should see RISOCKS. Click on This is my school.
  4. On the "Sign into your school" screen, choose Chariho Regional School District from the dropdown menu and tap the sign in button.
  5. You will be prompted to choose a Google account to continue to OverDrive. Select your school Google account.
  6. If it prompts you to sign in through the library catalog your username is your Lunch Code, and your password is your Birthday. 
  7. For STAFF: Your username and password is the same as your Chariho sign in. 

You are now ready to use Sora!

Community Events

Showcase Cinemas: Bookworm Wednesdays!

Bookworm Wednesdays entitles kids to free admission to a select children's film when they present a book report at a participating Cinema de Lux, Showcase, or Multiplex Cinemas box office.

Accompanying parents or guardians and children under six years of age receive free admission and do not need to submit a book report.
