Neuroscience Research Project Details

TASK:  Design, perform, and report on an original neuroscience research experiment.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO:

  1. Choose a subtopic of neuroscience that is of interest to you.
  2. Come up with a REASONABLE question you want to answer.  Write your answer in the form of a hypothesis.
  3. Design an experiment to help you answer the question/hypothesis.
  4. Perform the experiment on a minimum of 5 subjects.
  5. Collect and analyze data.
  6. Report your results on a science poster.
    • The poster should have the following sections:  Title, Author, Background, Subjects, Methods, Procedure, Results, Discussion, and Acknowledgments.
    • The poster should have the Cranston West Logo
  7. You will present your poster to the class.

RUBRIC: (scored on a 0-4 scale)

  1. Hypothesis:   Was it reasonable and written in the proper format? 
  2. Background knowledge:  Was the information provided correct and appropriate?
  3. Experiment:  Did the experiment test the hypothesis?  
  4. Experiment:  Was the experiment designed carefully/safely?
  5. Poster:  Did the poster have all the required sections? 
  6. Poster:  Did the poster follow guidelines shown in class?
  7. Poster:  Was the poster entirely computer driven?
  8. Poster:  Was there an accurate graph, data table, and statistical analysis? 
  9. Poster:  Was the discussion/analysis accurate and appropriate? 
  10. Presentation:  Was the presentation professional?
