Now that you have established a preliminary order for your evolutionary links, use your textbook (Campbell and Reece) and other reliable sources to conduct research and make revisions to the sequence based on the results of that research.
Your project will include 14 pages:
- Cover page
- Table of Contents page
- Eleven pages of content
- References
Each page of content will include the following:
- An internet-sourced photo/illustration of the specimen or a representative of the taxonomic group. Be sure to refer to the illustration in your written text (for example, "As seen in the illustration, this vertebrate lacks jaws."). Illustration should not exceed 20% of the page.
- A well-developed justification for the placement of each specimen in the order that you chose. You will accomplish this by comparing and contrating features of each specimen with the specimen that precedes it., and the specimen that follows it. Your discussion must be in your own words, so paraphrase and cite. Avoid using terms that are unfamiliar to you unless you understand their meaning in context. Your discussion must be evidence-based. You should be specific as to the features or characteristics that justify each placement. Features could include morphology, internal anatomy, physiology, and/or embryology. Identifying shared derived characters of the specimen will be useful in many cases.
- 12 point, Times New Roman, 1 1/2 line spacing (APA is usually double spaced), 1-inch margins
Citations: A reference page is required on this paper. Be sure to use trusted, college-level sources, including your text. Your textbook need only be cited once. Other sources must be cited with each use. Use "Author/Year" APA format for in-text citations (Brown, 2007) for example. Use sources with a listed author, not a website.
