The Research

The Research:

You will have two full class periods to do some research on your poet. You will need to look for articles about your poet as well as his/her poetry itself. Read through as many of the poems as possible and read about the poet's life, as well as, what other critics have said about his/her work. Gather as much research as you can in these two days. If you do not gather all you need, expect to do some extra research on your own through the databases that Mrs. Evje shows to you. Make sure to track works cited info as you go so that you do not have to back track in the end!!!

Sources:

Mrs. Evje will discuss with you the best option for research on these poets. In the end, your sources should offer biographical information, information on the time period in which they wrote, and some critical essay analyses of their life and works. (Each source does not need to have all three.)

Topics:

  • How the author's poetry was influenced by BOTH the author's personal history AND the literary movement of the era.
  • The common themes AND styles of the author as reflected in his/her writing.
